Steve Honig has been at the forefront of the public relations business for more than 20 years, having navigated worlds as diverse as Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, the Olympics, the Miss America Pageant, New York’s fashion industry and the Las Vegas Strip. He has represented some of the world’s most recognizable companies and brands in a variety of businesses and industries.
Honig works closely with clients to help them achieve specific business objectives, such as driving sales, increasing market-share, building investor interest and raising awareness of products, services, companies and individuals. Considered a chief communication advisor by his clients, Honig provides counsel to companies in the areas of public relations, media relations, crisis communication and conflict management, image and brand building, customer service, charitable involvement and community relations. Honig also conducts media training sessions and works with executives and other individuals on their communication and human relations skill-sets.
Recognizing the central role public relations and communication play in marketing campaigns, clients also turn to Honig for the development and execution of programs in other areas, such as entertainment marketing, sponsorships, promotions, celebrity relations, online marketing, special events and street marketing.
Honig has held senior-management positions at Golin/Harris and GCI Group, two international public relations firms. At Golin/Harris, Honig oversaw all North American publicity for Nintendo, which was at the time one of the largest public relations accounts in the U.S., and also managed the agency’s consumer technology division. At GCI Group, Honig was based out of the agency’s Atlanta offices during the 1996 Olympic Games, representing Olympic sponsors IBM and BellSouth Corp. as well as the 1996 Olympic Committee. Following the Olympics, Honig was appointed general manager of the Los Angeles office of GCI Group.
Honig also worked at legendary entertainment publicity firm Rogers & Cowan, where he directed the agency’s Corporate and Consumer Marketing division, handling all corporate entertainment and consumer product clients.
Starting his career in New York in the late ‘80s, Honig worked at a boutique fashion and beauty public relations agency, where he represented top designers and fashion houses including Bob Mackie and Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as leading names in beauty, such as Revlon and Almay. While there, Honig handled press relations at the New York spring and fall fashion shows of many noted designers, and launched several brand-name designer fragrances.
Honig has lectured on public relations on the graduate level at the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, has written for several trade and industry publications on various topics related to the practice of public relations and is frequently quoted on communication-related issues.
