CHATSWORTH, CA, Jan. 5, 2010 – Rare footage of jazz great Louis Armstrong will be released for the first time in a rousing concert that pays tribute to the legendary trumpeter and entertainer on the occasion of his 70th birthday when “Good Evening Ev’rybody” is released on DVD at retail stores nationwide on January 26 by Image Entertainment.
A musical celebration you'll never forget, “Good Evening Ev’rybody” brings together Louis Armstrong and musical guests for a never-before-released concert performance in honor of Armstrong's 70th birthday at the Newport Jazz Festival. Enjoy many of his greatest hits from rehearsal to concert, with an array of guests including Dizzy Gillespie, Mahalia Jackson, Jimmy Owens, Bobby Hackett, Wild Bill Davison and Ray Nance, along with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Eureka Brass Band. A high-definition digital restoration of the original unreleased film elements that were produced and directed by Jazz legend George Wein and Sidney J. Stiber, this music treasure will have you on your feet all the way to its rousing and moving gospel-inspired finale!
