Steve Honig

Steve Honig has been at the forefront of the public relations business for more than 30 years, having navigated worlds as diverse as Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, the Olympics, New York’s fashion industry, the Las Vegas Strip and Washington, D.C. He has represented some of the world’s most recognizable companies, personalities and brands in a variety of businesses and industries.

 

Honig provides clients with expert counsel and tactical implementation in the areas of public relations, media relations, crisis communication and conflict management, image and brand building, media training, philanthropy and community relations.

Honig made international headlines when troubled actress Lindsay Lohan hired him to handle all her press throughout two of the most tumultuous years of her life. The media credited Honig as being one of the most effective and innovative public relations professionals, which led to his hiring by other high-profile celebrities embroiled in scandals. Honig quickly earned a reputation as a top problem-solver and crisis go-to person.

Before starting his own firm in 2004, Honig held senior management positions at international public relations firms including Golin/Harris and GCI Group. At Golin/Harris, Honig oversaw all North American publicity for Nintendo, which was at the time one of the largest public relations accounts in the country, and also managed the agency’s consumer technology division. At GCI Group, Honig was based out of the agency’s Atlanta offices during the 1996 Olympic Games, representing Olympic sponsors IBM and BellSouth Corp. as well as the 1996 Olympic Committee. Following the Olympics, Honig was appointed general manager of the Los Angeles office of GCI Group. Honig also worked at legendary entertainment publicity firm Rogers & Cowan, where he directed the agency’s corporate and consumer marketing division, handling all corporate entertainment and consumer product clients.


Starting his career in New York in the late ‘80s, Honig worked at a boutique fashion and beauty public relations agency. Among his clients were top designers and fashion houses including Bob Mackie and Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as leading brands in beauty, such as Revlon and Almay. Honig handled press relations at the New York spring and fall fashion shows for some of the biggest names in fashion and launched several designer fragrances.


Honig has lectured on public relations on the graduate level at the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. He has written articles for several publications on topics related to the practice of public relations and is frequently quoted on communication-related issues. Honig is a recipient of the Highest Award for Achievement from Dale Carnegie & Associates, the world-renowned authority on human relations. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Honig was graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in communication. He currently resides in Los Angeles and divides his time between there and New York.
